Altinn 3 and Period & Year: What the transition means for you

There has been a lot of attention surrounding the closure of Altinn 2 and the requirement to transition to “System Access” (Systemtilgang). For those using Periode & År for the 2025 annual accounts, there is no cause for concern. We have planned the process to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible for you as a user.


Status for the 2025 annual accounts

For the vast majority of tasks you need to submit during this period, no new actions are required. Here is how the various submissions are handled:

  • Annual Accounts (RR-0002): Periode & År already delivers annual accounts directly to the new Altinn 3 platform. We have chosen to retain the ID-porten (BankID/MinID) solution for submissions. This means you sign and submit in exactly the same way as before.

  • Shareholder Register and Third-Party Information: Previous deadlines in January and February 2026 were submitted via Altinn 2 without requiring a new setup. We have now opened for submission to Altinn 3, and you must therefore activate the new system access to complete future submissions of the Shareholder Register Report or thirdpartyinformation.

  • Tax Return (Skattemeldingen): This has already been modernized and runs on Altinn 3, just like last year’s settlement.

  • Reconciliation of A-meldinger: The handling of A06 and A07 has now been moved to the new Altinn 3 standard using system access. (Released June 2026)


What is “System Access”?

The Tax Administration has decided that the old method using a “computer system ID” (username and password for professional systems) will be replaced by System Access.

Briefly explained, this is a digital authorization granted directly to Periode & År, rather than being linked to an individual person or a manual password. In the long run, this will make the submission of the Shareholder Register Task and third-party information even easier, as you will no longer need to deal with a system ID for every submission.


New integrated solution for Altinn 3 has now been launched

We have now launched the new integrated solution in the Client Register that simplifies the transition to Altinn 3 for you:

  • Create system access: You can create the primary system access directly from Periode & År.
  • Simple client administration: You manage and delegate client access directly within the program. This means you can assign the necessary authorizations the system requires for your clients internally, completely without having to log in to Altinn.no for each individual client.
  • Guidelines: Detailed guidelines and step-by-step explanations are now available so you can easily get started, Altinn system access.

Summary: The technical solution is in place. All you need to do now is go to the client register to activate the new system access, ensuring you are ready for upcoming submissions.
