# Calculate depreciation

> Note If no value is specified in the To period field, the Calculate only option is selected by default, and you cannot edit the Action field.


1. In the [Calculate depreciation (FA502000)](https://docs.vismasoftware.no/visma-net-erp/help/fixed-assets/fixed-asset-windows/calculate-depreciation-fa502000/index.md) window, in the **To period** field, select the financial period that ends the period range for which you want to calculate depreciation expenses.
1. In the **Action** field, select one of these two:

    + **Calculate only** if you only want to calculate depreciation expenses for the assets.
    + **Depreciate** to calculate the depreciation expenses and to create transactions for the assets.

      > [!NOTE]
      > If no value is specified in the **To period** field, the **Calculate only** option is selected by default, and you cannot edit the **Action** field.
1. To run the selected action for specified fixed assets in the table, select the check box in front of those fixed assets lines.
1. Click **Process**. To run the selected action for all fixed assets in the table, click **Process all**.
